If you find it hard to juggle children, work commitments, and home life you are not alone, in fact life in the fast lane has become a huge problem for the working parent and professional with stress related issues causing people to have difficulties sleeping finding it harder to switch off, hence insomnia in the UK has become an increasing problem.
That’s why more and more people are turning to meditation and taking up yoga and palates, as it’s a good way to switch off the mind, concentrate on our inner well-being and help live a more relaxing life.
The Buddhapadipa Temple in Wimbledon provides a relaxing environment for people to deepen their meditation practice. Constructed in 1980, it was built using traditional Thai architecture, for the purpose of teaching Theravada Buddhism. The Buddhapadipa Temple is set in four acres of parkland and is one of only two outside Asia.
The interior walls have excellent mural paintings by Thai artists, depicting aspects of the Buddha's life. This complex of buildings was conceived by architect/designer: Praves Limparasangsri in association with Sidney Kaye Firmin Partnership.
If you would like to see whether meditation is for you as well as exploring this wonderful building and grounds, they offer two hours of meditation between 19.00-21.00 each Tuesday and Thursday as well as an all-day course each Saturday and Sunday. For more information please visit their website.
